Mr. Richard Howitt, member of the European Parliament (MEP) and the vice-chairman of sub-committee on human rights at the EP visited today, February 15, 2008, the International Institute for Middle East and Balkan Studies, Ljubljana. The IFIMES delegation was headed by the directors Mr. Bakhtyar Aljaf and Mr. Zijad Bećirović.

Ljubljana, 8 April 2008 – The delegation of the European Jewish Congress (EJC) was on a working visit to Slovenia from 7 to 9 April 2008. During the three-day visit the EJC delegation had an Executive meeting met Slovenia's leading representative sand.

Yesterday, on Thursday, December 27, 2007, terrorists in Pakistan assassinated Benazir Bhutto, a leading politician not only of Pakistan but also in the Islamic world as a whole. As the first female prime minister in the Islamic world and a distinguished fighter for democratization of Pakistan, Ms Bhutto, also as a fellow of Institute IFIMES, devoted her whole life fighting for a democratic Pakistan.
