Vice-president of IFIMES Advisory Board, Dr Ernest Petrič, as key-note speaker at the International conference on »Research, documenting and processing the genocide in Bosnia and Herzegovina«
LJUBLJANA/SARAJEVO, June 13, 2015 – Vice-president of the Advisory Board of the International Institute for Middle East and Balkan Studies (IFIMES), former president of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia, and member of the International Law Commission at the UN prof. dr. Ernest Petrič, attended the International conference on »Research, documenting and processing the genocide in Bosnia and Herzegovina«, held in Sarajevo between June 11 and 12. The conference was organized by the »Association of victims and witnesses of the genocide«, and by the Association »Mothers of the Srebrenica and Žepa enclaves«.
Along with the president of the International Criminal Tribunal forthe former Yugoslavia (ICTY), Theodor Meron, ICTY Chief Prosecutor, Serge Brammertz, first Ambassador of the United States of America for war crimes, David Scheffer, Ambassador of EU to BiH Lars-Gunnar Wigemark,and Chief of the OSCE Mission to BiH, Ambassador Jonathan Moore, dr. Ernest Petrič participated as a key-note speaker at the conference.
The highest representatives of the Justice systems in the region participated at the conference, along with the representatives of the victims of the genocide, and experts from different areas including numerous representatives of the media.
On Saturday, June 13th 2015, Dr Petrič, along with the president of the Association »Mothers of the Srebrenica and Žepa enclaves« Munira Subašić, paid his respects to the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica while visiting the memorial centre Potočari/Srebrenica.
