kindly invites You to
the promotion of the book
"THE WEST BALCONY"
by Professor Dr. Anđelko Milardović,
which will be held on Friday 19 March 2010 at 12.05 h
the Auditorium of Center Evropa at Dalmatinova 4 in Ljubljana.
Professor Anđelko Milardović uses the expression "west balcony" as a metaphor based on the concept of the West Balkans. Since the topic is not the geographically defined area but a social and political construction of the West European political ideas and American policy towards the region of the former Yugoslavia, i.e. the South-East Europe, the question that intrigues due to its practical unresolvability is: How and in what way can it be explained that in the period when Europe is being built as a transnational political union, the identity of a nation/state remains within the cultural sphere as a new ideology and as a way to integrate into the regional concept of European globalisation politics? The West Balcony by Professor Anđelko Milardović represents a valuable contribution to the political and social science as well as to the political journalism in a wider sense since it broadens the field of analysis to the units of culture and identity of the present day.
The book was published by the Pan libera publishing house under the "Political journalism" series.
Dr. Anđelko Milardović is a full professor of Political Science at the Croatian Studies of the University of Zagreb and the founder of the Political Science Research Centre.
