"THE ROLE OF INTERNATIONAL LAW IN FOREIGN POLICY"
which will be delivered by
Professor Dr. Ernest Petrič
Judge of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia
The lecture will take place on Tuesday, 21 September 2010, at 16.00 h,
in the Auditorium of Center Evropa at Dalmatinova 4 in Ljubljana.
Dr. Ernest Petrič will talk about international law as an instrument of foreign policy and about its role in some concrete cases of Slovenian foreign policy and problems in the region.
The lecturer is currently the Judge of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia. He is also a member and former president of ILC (International Law Commission) and professor of international law and international relations at the Faculty of Social Sciences in Ljubljana, European Faculty of Law in Nova Gorica and Postgraduate School of State and European Studies in Kranj.
He served as ambassador in India, USA, the UN, Austria, OSCE, UNIDO, ODC, CTBT and President of the Board of Governors of IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency). He was also State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia.
Dr. Petrič has recently published his book entitled "Foreign Policy: Basic Theory and Practice" which represents a valuable contribution to the field of foreign policy and international law studies in Slovenia.
The lecture will be delivered in the Slovenian language and will be followed by a discussion with the guest lecturer which will be moderated by Zijad Bećirović and Bakhatyar Aljaf.
