In the framework of the “West Balkans and the EU” lecture cycle,
the International Institute for Middle-East and Balkan Studies (IFIMES)
invites You kindly to the internaational round table
entitled
Bulgaria took over the EU presidency on 1st of January this year. It is expected that the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Greece will resolve the controversial issue regarding the name of the Republic of Macedonia, which is a Greek’s condition to entry of Macedonia into NATO, and later in the EU. The EU summit will take place on 18 May 2018 in Sofia and will put the Western Balkans in the foreground. EU will send a strong message to the remaining Western Balkan countries seeking membership of the EU. This meeting will be similar to the Solun Summit in 2003, when the European perspective of the Western Balkan countries was also highlighted.

The round table will be held in the Slovenian/Bosnian/Serbian language and moderated by Asisst. Prof. Dr. Zijad Bećirović.
Before the round table the President of the European Movement in Bosnia and Herzegovina Predrag Praštalo will give a high recognition “European friend of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans” to the Slovene MEP Igor Šoltes.
