IFIMES directors at the Balkan Think Tanks Convention in Ankara
LJUBLJANA/ANKARA, June 14, 2015 – Directors of the International Institute for Middle East and Balkan Studies (IFIMES), Bakhatyar Aljaf and Zijad Bećirović attended the Balkan Think Tanks Convention, held in Ankara from June 10 to June 12, along with researchers from 12 different countries, and representatives of the Republic of Turkey.
Balkan Think Tanks Convention was organized by the Foundation for political, economic and societal research (SETA) from Ankara.
Director Aljaf participated at the panel »Reflections on the Syrian civil war and the phenomenon of ISIL in Turkey, and in the Balkans«.
At the end of the convention the participants visited Turkish institutions that cooperate with the Balkans, such as the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey (YTB), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Turkish agency for cooperation and coordination (TIKA), the Yunus Emre Institut, and the Presidential Palace.
IFIMES directors held numerous bilateral meetings during the convention, and also agreed on concrete joint projects with representatives of different institutions.
