LJUBLJANA, 15 October 2012 - From 17 to 20 October 2012, the International Institute for Middle-East and Balkan Studies (IFIMES) from Ljubljana, Slovenia, will participate at the 14th Crans Montana Forum Summit on Transnational Crime.
This year's summit is dedicated to homeland and global security. During the summit IFIMES will in co-operation with Crans Montana Forum organise a panel entitled "Security and stability as a challenge from the Middle East to the West Balkans" which will take place on Friday, 19 October 2012 at 14.30 h.

- A View from the EU - From Lisbon to Barcelona - all the forgotten instruments of the EU, prof.dr. Anis Bajrektarević, Member of IFIMES, professor and chairperson Int. Law & Global Pol. Studies at the Austrian IMC University, Krems, Austria
- A View from the United States, Mr. Victor Jackovich, Vice President of the IFIMES Council, former US Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina and to Slovenia

The purpose of the panel is to discuss the current state of affairs as far as the security and stability challenges in the region from the Middle East to the Western Balkans are concerned. The participants will touch upon security issues and threats from various geographic areas and political field, which represent a special challenge from the point of view of transnational crime. They will reflect upon the discussed topic from a broad geographical viewpoint which encompasses certain security risks on one hand and transition of crime from one region to another on the other hand. The participants will also try to comment on homeland and global security issues and to present different approaches towards security applied by their respective countries and regions.
This important event will be attended by several presidents of states and prime ministers, leaders of international organisations, ministers, diplomats, experts in the fields of security and combating crime as well as the media representatives.
