Dutch Ambassador visits IFIMES
LJUBLJANA, September 29, 2014 - The directors of the International Institute for Middle-East and Balkan Studies (IFIMES) inLjubljana Bakhtyar Aljaf, and Msc. Zijad Bećirović met the ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Pieter Jan Langenberger.
In a conversation the interlocutors exchanged views on current events in Slovenia and in the Western Balkan region.
Director Bećirović presented the work of the Institute and projects current in this year, with a focus on the Western Balkans, where the Institute will be particularly active in projects relating to the fight against organized crime and corruption.
The International Institute IFIMES will pay special attention to the economic reconstruction of the Western Balkans, and towards the newly announced EU policy towards the region.
At the end of the meeting the directors of the Institute Aljaf and Bećirović stressed that the EU should pay special attention to Albania´s problems with acting in accordance with the rule of law especially in the energy sector, as well as to the problems regarding discrimination against foreign companies in Albania.
