LJUBLJANA, 16 November 2018 – Directors of the International Institute for Middle East and Balkan Studies (IFIMES) Bakhatyar Aljaf and Assist. Prof. Dr. Zijad Bećirović met today with Faruk Kaymakci, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey and Director for EU Affairs, accompanied by Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Slovenia Esen Altuğ.
During a lengthy conversation, they talked about the situation in the Middle East, the Balkans and the EU. Deputy Foreign Minister Kaymakci presented the views of the Republic of Turkey on current developments, stressing the importance of ensuring peace and stability. In his opinion, Turkey will continue to be an active factor contributing to conflict resolution and ensuring peace and stability.
The directors of the IFIMES International Institute presented the views of the Institute on current developments and proposed solutions for certain conflicts and issues. IFIMES will strengthen its activities in the Middle East and the Balkans and will actively participate in the work of the ECOSOC/UN in which it has a special consultative status.
At the end, the two sides agreed that efforts should be stepped up to overcome existing crises and conflicts and ensure peace and stability based on cooperation.
