invites You kindly to the round table

entitled

2014 Local Election – a slap in the face to established political parties?

which will be held on Tuesday, 30 September 2014, at 14.00 h

in the “Grad” hall of Hotel Lev (13th floor) at Vošnjakova 1, Ljubljana.

The aim of this round table will be to present the views of mayoral candidates running in the forthcoming local election (5.10.2014) in the Republic of Slovenia as well as the role of local communities and importance of their elected representatives for the citizens and the wider social community. All mayoral candidates participating at the round table will be the challengers, i.e. they will stand candidates for the mayor position for the first time. Numerous candidates at the forthcoming election will run as independent candidates and some of them have even renounced support from their own political parties. The round table will open the questions of why local elections are a peculiarity in the Slovenian political scene and why the established political parties are not popular in the local environment. It will also deal with the current political issues related to the upcoming local election.

Those and other issues will be discussed at the round table by the following experts:

  • Damjan Damjanovič, mayoral candidate for the City of Ljubljana
  • Sebastjan Jeretič, mayoral candidate for the municipality of Piran
  • Dr. Ahmed Pašić, mayoral candidate for the municipality of Jesenice and
  • Janez Lencl, mayoral candidate for the municipality of Vransko

The round table will be held in the Slovenian language and moderated by Zijad Bećirović.
