Western Balkans as part of the Energy Community and Energy Union

on Monday, 3 July 2017, at 17.00,

at the hotel "Lev", 13th floor, "Grad" hall, Vošnjakova 1, Ljubljana.

Janez Kopač has been the Director of the Energy Community Secretariat based in Vienna since 2012. The Energy Community is an international organization dealing with energy policy. The organization was established by an international agreement in Athens in October 2005. The community is bringing together the European Union, on one hand and the countries of South-Eastern Europe and the Black Sea region. The mission of the Energy Community is to extend the EU's internal energy market to south-eastern Europe and beyond on the basis of a legally binding framework.

The Western Balkans is an important part of the Energy Community and Energy Union, especially in the light of the development potential represented by energy for individual countries in the region. Director Kopač will talk about the challenges and difficulties he faces in his work in the Western Balkans and in the functioning of the Energy Community.

The lecture will be held in the Slovene language. After the lecture the discussion will follow moderated by a Assist. Prof. Dr. Zijad Bećirović and Bakhatyar Aljaf.
