Participation at the International Conference of Slovenian Pan-European Movement
LJUBLJANA, October 18, 2014 - Slovenian Pan-European Movement organized an international conference entitled "Citizens of Europe creating a European foreign policy", where held from 17 to 19 October 2014 in Ljubljana.
The international conference was held as part of the project European citizens for European Foreign Policy. The purpose of the conference was to highlight the EU's foreign policy from the perspective of other regions in the world, to discuss current issues regarding EU foreign policy and to discuss how EU citizens view and understand EU foreign policy.
Advisor to the International Institute for Middle-East and Balkan Studies (IFIMES) Boštjan Ploštajner participated in the panel "The foreign policy of the EU: EU member Stated and candidate countries" along with Nicholas Whyte, an independent diplomat from Brussels. The moderator was Vanja Gavran, President of the Pan-European Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Advisor Ploštajner stressed the importance of EU enlargement to the rest of the Western Balkans area, and the integration of these countries into the European framework. He singled out the mission of the Pan-European Movement and other institutions working towards the integration of the Western Balkans into the European framework. The conference was a manifest to the European spirit of respecting diversity and integration.
